Power Book II: Ghost episode seven teaser released by STARZ
Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson has been a mainstay in the world of Power since the beginning. Now his character, Kanan Stark, has finally been given his time in the spotlight for a brand new spin-off on Starz. Fans went into meltdown when the first trailer dropped on YouTube to share a preview of what’s to come.
The first trailer for Power Book III: Raising Kanan has been released, giving viewers their first look at the 90s-based spin-off series.
Creator Courtney Kemp’s third foray in the Power universe will star Mekai Curtis as Kanan Stark, previously portrayed by the series’ executive producer 50 Cent.
Book III will wind the clocks back to Kanan’s rise to infamy on the streets of Jamaica, Queens, loosely inspired by Cent’s early life in New York.
50 Cent narrates the new trailer, saying “You already know how my s*** ended. This is how it started. This is my story.”

Kanan was a fellow drug dealer and mentor of Power’s protagonist James ‘Ghost’ St. Patrick (played by Omari Hardwick) before they turned against each other.
He was then killed in the fifth season after being set up by Ghost, Tasha (Naturi Naughton), and Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.).
The new trailer dropped along with tonight’s new episode of the show’s first spin-off, Power Book II: Ghost.
No new footage has been released, although the short video features plenty of stills featuring the brand new cast.
Curtis will be joined by an ensemble cast which includes Omar Epps (House), London Brown (Ballers), and Joey Bada$$ (Mr. Robot).
90s hip-hop classic Excursions by A Tribe Called Quest plays over the clip, giving a strong sense of the upcoming show’s flavour.
Power enthusiasts also won’t have long to wait after Book II wraps up, as Raising Kanan is now confirmed to be hitting screens in summer 2021.
Reactions to the new trailer were ecstatic, as Power’s devoted audience shared their excitement to see 50 Cent putting his stamp on the popular franchise.

One fan commented: “Seems like 50 is taking this opportunity to do an autobiography show about his upbringing and will try to weave that into Power somehow.
“He should’ve just tried to do a stand-alone show but this was probably easier to sell to the Starz execs.”
Details of 50 Cent’s early career as a drug dealer in the 1980s have already started to bleed through, as both he and his on-screen persona grew up in the South Jamaica area of Queens.
Meanwhile, other fans were hoping the ambitious new series will able to offer an authentic look at the history of New York’s roughest streets.
Another said: “Man, I love that 80s/90s NY stuff. It was its own crazy world back then, especially when it came to crime, whether it was organized crime like the mafia or the drug business.
“So much potential. I hope the showrunners consult 50 heavily for it to get it accurate.”
Kanan star 50 Cent is staying on as executive producer, while his long-time collaborator Courtney Kemp will be returning as showrunner.
Power Book II: Ghost season 1 concludes Sunday, January 3 on Starz and Starzplay.
