The Good Morning Britain broadcaster was forced to leave I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! after having to be checked over at hospital following a “funny turn”. Although he was given the all-clear by medical professionals to head back to camp, it was decided it would be too much of a risk for him to go back due to the risk of COVID-19 after he broke the castle bubble to attend hospital. Richard Madeley, 65, has been a life-long fan of the show and was enjoying his time in Gwrych Castle before his exit last week. Speaking to colleagues Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid on Monday, Madeley suggested he could make a come-back to the show.

“Would you go back?” Susanna asked the journalist.

Ben commented: “You waited 21 years to do this Richard, didn’t you? You got a taste of it but not enough!”

“Well,” Richard began, “A, it would depend on them asking me, and yeah I – god I’ve only just come out – I’d certainly never say never.”

He continued: “I’d certainly consider it.”

Ben asked: “In the castle or Australia?”

Without much consideration, the TV personality replied: “Oh, I wouldn’t do the castle again, thank you very much.

“I’ve done that, been there. I’d go where it’s warm.”

He explained: “If you get chucked into the Clink as we were in the castle, it was freezing.

“I mean we were actually shivering.

“Whereas if you’re cast into the jail in the jungle at least it’s warm.”

“So, the castle – never again?” Susanna clarified.

“No,” Richard confirmed. “I’ve done that.”

Looking to the camera, Susanna ordered: “Don’t send him back to the Clink – send him to the jungle!”

Madeley had only been in the castle for a number of days when the medical emergency meant he had to leave.

His unexpected departure came as the first of several disruptions to the popular ITV show.

Since Saturday, the programme was thrown into chaos as Wales felt the full force of Storm Arwen.

The show was taken off air as a precaution, and the celebrities have been removed from the castle.

In an update on Monday morning, hosts Ant and Dec couldn’t confirm if the show would pick up tonight.

The duo confirmed there had been damage to the set following the strong storm.

Discussing the interruption to the series, Richard commented that he would have “hated it” because it would disrupt the mindset of those taking part.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV, while I’m A Celebrity might return to ITV at 9pm.
