Soaps are known for their dramatic storylines and sometimes questionable plots.
Over the decades, there have been plenty of memorable TV moments.
Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, EastEnders and Emmerdale have all had their fair share of identity riddles from Zoe Slater finding out big sister Kat is actually her mother to Leanne Battersby finally revealing that Steve McDonald was the father of her unborn child.
While some storylines seem to have come out of nowhere, others have certainly left a lasting impression amongst soap fans across the globe.
Daily Star has taken a look back at some of the most iconic identity twists in soap history.
Rocky is really Tom Cotton
EastEnders newcomer Rocky left fans gobsmacked in September this year as he confirmed his real name is Tom Cotton.

Steve McDonald is Oliver Battersby's dad
When Coronation Street favourite Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) fell pregnant after a mystery one-night stand no one knew who it could possibly be.
Fans of the ITV soap had never seen her hook up with anyone and she’d barely even spoken to a man during the time.
Leanne was gobsmacked when she discovered she was expecting as she'd previously been told she couldn’t have kids.
However, she soon found herself arranging to meet the man in question to reveal he was going to be a dad.
No one was more shocked than Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) when he found out it was his baby.
