Spoilers: Dawn kills Malone in Emmerdale — and Harriet covers up the murder

DI Malone (Mark Womack) ultimately met his match in Emmerdale at the hands of Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley), as she retaliated and shot him dead, and Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton) resolved to cover up the murder.

DI Malone was seething in last Friday’s episode (August 14) when he discovered that Dawn had reported him to the police, and therefore he threatened the life of her son, Lucas.

After successfully manipulating her into entering her own home, he pointed a gun at her and attempted to force her to take her own life via the heroin he’d supplied her with.

Harriet came to Dawn’s rescue in Monday’s episode (August 17), as she walloped the dodgy copper over the head with a kettle — leaving viewers wondering if he’d died.

However, Malone managed to once again survive, as — in a shock twist — he regained consciousness and came at Harriet and Dawn with a candle stick.

A terrified Dawn retaliated and grabbed hold of his gun, before pointing it him and shooting repeatedly.

This time, Malone was dead — for certain.

The young woman struggled to come to terms with her actions, and a horrified Harriet revealed that there’s no way the police would believe their claims of self-defence.

As a result, she resolved to help Dawn dispose of the evidence, and therefore she tied the body up in a rug, and — with little assistance from Dawn — carried said rug out to the car, where she then placed it in the boot.

After a close call which saw Will (Dean Andrews) verge on discovering what had transpired, Harriet made it clear that she and Dawn would have to bury Malone’s corpse at nightfall.

The question is: will they follow through with their plan?

Or will Dawn struggle with her actions and go to the police?

Emmerdale continues Friday 21 August at 7pm on ITV.
