Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) was left heartbroken in Emmerdale when Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) asked Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) to be Johnny’s guardian in the event of her death, but during tonight’s episode, the soulmates put their conflict behind them and reunited, as Charity agreed to adopt Johnny.
Viewers will remember that several weeks back, Vanessa asked Charity to be Johnny’s guardian in the event of her death. However, the Woolpack landlady froze, and Vanessa took this as an indication that Charity didn’t want such a responsibility.
This wasn’t actually the case, as Vanessa had simply jumped to the wrong conclusion.
In reality, the reason as to why Charity froze was in relation to the fact that she couldn’t bare the thought of the love of her life dying — something which came to light during tonight’s episode.
Having realised she’d made a colossal mistake, Vanessa felt awful, and — after an odd time-jump which took viewers a whole day into the future — she headed off to chemo.
Meanwhile, Rhona spoke to Charity, and having realised that there’s still hope, she set off to make things right with her girlfriend.
Vanessa and Charity later returned home — evidently having patched things up — and they revealed that Charity has agreed to adopt Johnny.
No, you’re crying.
Emmerdale continues Friday 15 May at 7pm on ITV.
