The smash-hit Netflix drama has welcomed a number of new faces over the years. Most recently, Dungeons and Dragons aficionado Eddie Munson (played by Joseph Quinn) joined the Stranger Things gang for season four, but fans are already concerned he may not return for the final battle against the Upside Down.

Eddie’s survival in the final two episodes of Stranger Things season four may have been sealed by recent comments from actor Joseph.

The British actor joined the cast of the science fiction phenomenon this year as the troubled RPG enthusiast who helps the kids in their fight against Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).

However, first Eddie had to evade capture from Hawkins High School’s zealous basketball team, who were convinced his D&D club was behind the town’s vicious string of murders.

Joseph remained tight-lipped about the outcome of the final two episodes of Stranger Things’ new season, but did confirm the epic two-parter will be well worth the wait.

“The thing is, they’ve got my family tied up somewhere and if I spoil anything, I’ll never see them again,” he joked.

“No, I can say there’s a guitar scene and that the scale and ambition are astonishing. All the seeds that have been planted bear fruit and it’s just carnage.

“You know the finale is two-and-a-half hours, right? Ending with this monster, feature-length episode is so bold.”

Season four’s episodes have already been considerably longer than usual, and the latest instalment is set to bow out with an epic final chapter.

Eddie’s guitar shredding has already been teased in the trailer for season four, but no other details about his role in the last episodes have been confirmed so far.

Even so, the actor seems to suggest his season four debut won’t be the last time Eddie’s D&D knowledge will come in handy.

“I’ll be furious if they don’t bring me back,” he quipped to the Guardian. “I’d love to, if they’ll have me.”

As Joseph seems confident there’ll be room for his return, this could mean Eddie will escape the gang’s imminent bout with Vecna with his life intact.

This season has raised the stakes exponentially considering Max’s (Sadie Sink) brush with death after being captured by Vecna.

Plus, Nancy (Natalia Dyer) suffering the same fate in the midseason finale could be foreshadowing at least one major death by the end of next month’s two-part finale.

As Eddie has only just been introduced in the last seven episodes, it would certainly be a shame for viewers to have to say goodbye after just one season.

Newcomers to the series tend to stick around for at least one more battle, evidenced by Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke), Murray Bauman (Bret Gelman) and Max.

Then again, his death could be preferable over the likes of Nancy, Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) or Steve Harrington (Joe Keery).

Moreover, Bob Newby (Sean Astin) certainly didn’t stick around for too long, so Eddie’s role in the series could be equally as short-lived.

Whatever the case, it will take everything Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and her friends have got to take down Vecna, and some more sacrifices may have to be made to save their town.

Stranger Things season 4, volume 1 will be released Friday, July 1 on Netflix.
