Strictly 2019: Neil Jones to be replaced TODAY? Who will Alex Scott perform with?

Strictly Come Dancing star Alex Scott performed her Street/Commerical routine alongside Kevin Clifton instead of Neil Jones on Saturday evening. The professional injured himself in rehearsals before the live show and it’s not yet certain whether or not he will return.

Strictly fans have been desperate for an update from Neil as to whether he will be performing this weekend.

The star has been pictured on crutches as he trains Alex for their American Smooth tomorrow night.

However, it’s still uncertain if Neil will be taken to the dance floor alongside her.

It is expected news of Neil’s return will be announced this evening when the pair appear on It Takes Two.

Earlier this week, former professional Ian Waite hinted Gorka Marquez could step in to dance with Alex.

Speaking on It Takes Two, host Zoe Ball remarked: “Now, Alex and Neil have an American Smooth this week.

“As we can see in the training room, Alex is marking this on her own, Neil is telling her what to do.

“He’s still on the crutches, fingers crossed!”

“Is it going to be Neil this week?” Ian replied.

“Who could it be? Could it be Kevin? Is it going to be Gorka? Who knows.”

Teasing tonight’s It Takes Two, Zoe told those tuning in last night they’d have the latest on whether Neil would be back.

If Neil does have to pull out, he will be the second Strictly star to do so this week.

On Wednesday, Will Bayley announced he has had to withdraw from the competition due to a knee injury.

The paralympian was overcome with emotion as he told Zoe he was “gutted” not to be able to continue his Strictly journey.

“It’s really gutting isn’t it? I didn’t want it to end like this,” he sobbed.

“I wouldn’t mind properly ending it, even if we went out like next week or something or the week before.”

Will added: “I just didn’t want to end it like this.

“But there are so many positive things I want to focus on like it was an amazing journey and I loved every single second of it.

“Some of the lifts were amazing and I never thought I could do half the stuff.

“I owe Janette so much because I came into this scared of dancing, I was really scared of embarrassing myself but she believed in me.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One at 7pm.
