Greg Wise was left fighting back tears on Saturday 2 October's instalment of Strictly Come Dancing after dedicating his routine with partner Karen Hauer to his late sister Clare.
The 55 year old, who has been married to actress Emma Thompson for 18 magical years, spoke about his sibling before taking the stage. Greg's sister sadly passed away in 2016 at age of 51 after battling both breast cancer and bone cancer.
"Yeah, my gorgeous sister Clare would always have banging disco music on whenever you came around. So I wanted to dedicate it to her, the disco diva," he told 39 year old Karen.
He continued: "Family is fantastically important to me.
"I feel very fortunate that we've moulded a family, Emma [Thompson] and I, over the years. An extremely important part of the family was my sister Clare.
"My sister was first diagnosed with breast cancer and she had the brutal treatment of chemotherapy.
"But I don't think she was ever out of the woods, because it wasn't found out until quite later on that in fact she had gotten bone cancer. She died just over a year from the prognosis."
Greg, whose daughter was recently praised for sharing "brave anorexia photos", went on: "It's one of the hardest things when you are with someone you love, witnessing their pain and their fear. And to work out what you are able to do to mitigate that.
"I think my sister would be absolutely thrilled that I'm doing this because of her," Greg added, before taking to the dance floor.
