Strictly’s Johannes apologises after lift with John goes wrong and he falls to floor

Strictly Come Dancing's Johannes Radebe apologised on Saturday's show after he fell to the floor during a lift after accidentally giving dance partner John Whaite the wrong hand.

After performing their Salsa to Sister Sledge hit We Are Family, which ended with Johannes, 34, falling to the floor, the pro dancer said: "I'm so sorry, I gave him the wrong hand!"

While John, 32, insisted: "It doesn't matter!"

Presenter Tess Daly also added: "It's live, Johannes, anything can happen. Don't worry about it!"

Speaking to host Claudia Winkleman after the routine, Johannes said of the lift: "I've never been thrown like that, Claudia, it's incredible. Honestly."

While John joked: "I bet you've never hit the floor with such a thud before as well!"

To which Claudia insisted: "It was charming, I won't have it!"

During the judges' feedback, Shirley Ballas said: "You know what, he did give you the wrong hand but you got him up there. We were in complete shock it even went up… even if you did just drop him at the end point. You just got on with it!"

While Craig Revel Horwood added: "Shame about the last bit, I love it when it goes wrong. I absolutely love it. You had no chance, darling, you had to drop him on the floor in the end."

The duo then received their scores, where they received 32 points in total from the four judges.

Viewers were left gutted for John and Johannes as they took to Twitter to share their love and support.

One person said: "IM SO PROUD OF JOHN AND JOHANNES #Strictly #scd."

A different account put: "SAVE JOHN & JOHANNES FOR THE LOVE OF GAWD #strictly."
