The Chase player red-faced as Bradley Walsh corrects him in awkward moment

A player during Monday's The Chase accidentally called Mark 'The Beast' Labbett the wrong name in a cringeworthy moment.

Quizzer John was the second contestant to take on Mark, but he suffered the epic fail moments before his round even began.

He had finished his cash-builder and was being introduced to quizzing extraordinaire Mark when he called him Paul by mistake.

Paul Sinha is another Chaser on the ITV show, so John had got their names mixed up.

Mark said: "Good afternoon John", to which the player replied: "Hello Paul".

Presenter Bradley Walsh quickly said: "That's Mark…"

A stunned John covered his mouth with his hand as he replied: "My apologies".

Luckily Mark seemed to find the name mishap funny.

Bradley joked: "I can see the problem you've got though they are very similar."

Mark added while laughing: "The similarity is awesome."

After they laughed about the blunder, Bradley then quipped: "That's your first mistake straight away."

Viewers were stunned after watching the awkward moment, as one tweeted: "Hello Paul?!"

While another wrote: "Calling Mark Paul, well done".

John sadly didn't make it into the final round as he was caught by The Beast.

Another viewer typed: "Maybe if you hadn't called Mark Paul, you would be through to the final chase!"
