'The Handmaid's Tale': Will O-T Fagbenle Play Luke in Season 4?

Season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale will premiere on Hulu on April 28. The fourth season of the show is highly anticipated. On Feb. 25, Hulu released a trailer for Season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale.

In past seasons, O-T Fagbenle played Luke Bankole, the husband of June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss). However, Luke was not seen in the newest trailer for the show. Will Luke be in Season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale?

O-T Fagbenle filmed for Season 4 of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’

Luke fans don’t need to worry, because O-T Fagbenle took part in filming for the fourth season. On March 9, 2020, Moss shared a photo of Fagbenle and actor Max Minghella on the set of The Handmaid’s Tale. In the show, Minghella plays Nick Blaine, June’s lover in Gilead.

Moss playfully captioned the Instagram post, “Just gonna leave this right here. #handmaidstale.”

While Fagbenle was not featured in the Season 4 trailer, he has promoted the upcoming season on his social media. On Feb. 26, the actor posted a promotional poster for Season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale on Instagram.

“Ready?” Fagbenle captioned the photo.

Based on this, fans of the Hulu show can assume that Luke will appear in the fourth season.

What we know about Season 4 of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’

The third season of The Handmaid’s Tale ended with June orchestrating the escape of dozens of children from Gilead. While distracting a Guardian to allow others to escape, June is shot.

The season ends with her fate unknown as Alma (Nina Kiri), Janine, (Madeline Brewer), and other Handmaids carry her on a makeshift stretcher.

Based on the Season 4 trailer, fans can expect the new season to be unlike any other. The most recent trailer was filled with action and showed a change in setting.

It appears the new season will primarily take place in Chicago, which is a battlefront on the show. While June is seen wearing her Handmaid’s uniform a few times in the trailer, she is also shown in street clothes while running through war-torn streets.

The end of the trailer hints that June possibly escapes Gilead, as June is shown wearing street clothes while on a dock. In the background, the Canadian flag hangs on a flag pole.

June then stares at the camera, and a voiceover says, “My name is June Osborne. I am a citizen of the United States.”

What O-T Fagbenle has to say about the fourth season

If the trailer does not build enough anticipation for the new season, Fagbenle assures fans that Season 4 of The Handmaid’s Tale will shock fans in the best way.

“The season started and I had it broken down to me what’s going to happen and I’m like ‘wow!’ This is the most revolutionary of the four seasons. This is the most of everything being turned on its head,” he said in a 2020 interview with Gold Derby.

Fagbenle continued, “It’s really exciting. There’s some things where I am like ‘I don’t even know how you’re going to do that! That’s your plan? Oh yeah?’ It’s exciting.”
