While The Haunting of Bly Manor welcomed back several familiar faces from the hugely successful Hill House series, the second instalment of Mike Flanagan’s horror anthology also saw some new stars steal the show. Victoria Pedretti returned to lead the way as American aupair Dani but her character faced more than her fair share of scares courtesy of Miles (played by Benamin Evan Ainsworth) and Flora Wingrave (Amelie Bea Smith). Netflix viewers also welcomed charming chef Owen to the fray, played in his younger years by Rahul Kohli and then Kamal Khan after a plot-twisting time jump. And it’s the latter who spoke with Express.co.uk about a possible return to the horror.
Owen, along with groundskeeper Jamie (Amelia Eve and Carla Gugino) and negligent uncle Henry (Herny Thomas and Duncan Fraser), were the few characters who actually managed to escape the haunted clutches of Bly Manor alive.
In a heartwarming twist, the trio, along with Flora and Henry, had stayed a friendly unit in the decades that followed, reuniting for Flora’s wedding day.
And while Bly Manor’s story may have wrapped up nicely on-screen, Khan has revealed he’d happily reprise the role of Owen once more – or return in another capacity.
“Oh, absolutely,” Khan said when asked about a possible comeback. “I know, it’s an anthology, of course.
“But, you know, I think Mike (Flanagan), one of the things about Mike, he does bring back some of the same actors he likes to work with.
“So that’s always good. And obviously, you know, he’s working with the same actors on Midnight Mass, which is what Mike’s working on as well.
“But I would love to, to answer your question. That’d be great opportunity. I think it’s fantastic.
“I mean, I’ve enjoyed the first and would be looking forward to second part of that.”
Khan was also full of praise for his Bly Manor co-stars and the Hill House veterans.
“I think it’s an amazing cast as well to work with,” he continued. “There’s some really good people you work with and interact with, it was just great to even talk to him to them and how excited they were about being part of the series as well. So I jokingly kind of think about it.”
Khan’s portrayal of Owen played an integral part to both the opening and closing scene of the series, but he still managed to get to know the rest of the cast on set.
“Mostly, it was Carla I spent time with,” he said. “I obviously got to meet some of the other actors as well.

“And then also, the kids are amazing. I mean, terrifying but brilliant.
“I mean to have such a young cast doing such an effective job. I know Rahul did such a fantastic job as well.”
Khan also praised The Haunting of Bly Manor for its diverse cast, with both Kohli and Hannah star T’Nia Miller playing major parts to the plot.
“It’s a diverse cast as well, to speak about the fact that if you look at the Haunting of Hill House and you’ve got essentially like a white family in the house, but then looking at Bly Manor and you’ve got characters that introduce (us) to quite diverse roles.
“You’ve got Rahul, T’Nia (etc). So, I think that’s interesting, especially with what’s going on currently.
“And, you know, this was planned way before this pandemic, and the concerns about diversity, but I think the fact that we’re centred around the house – we’ve all been home recently and I think those things are always kind of a bit eerie right?
“Because your home is this safe haven and stuff and there’s things going on inside your house. It’s kind of like face your fears to me in some ways, because we’ve all been a little bit lost, we expected hope for 2020 and we didn’t quite get it.
“So if you think about that there’s some tragedy within that to some degree, not by design but by chance.”
The Haunting of Bly Manor is available to stream on Netflix now.
