The Woman In The House Across The Street is a Netflix sensation and it has found global success. The series is a parody of ‘women in peril’ films such as The Girl on the Train and The Woman in the Window. Fans are keen to find out how Anna (played by Kristen Bell) lost her daughter Elizabeth (Appy Pratt).

How did the daughter die in The Woman In The House Across The Street?

The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window acts as a satirical version of other psychological thrillers.

The eight-episode series aired on January 28, 2022 and it continues to sit in the streaming platform’s top 10.

Actress Bell plays grief-stricken Anna, who lost both her husband and her young daughter.

As she mixes pills with copious amounts of wine, she suffers from regular hallucinations.

Convinced she has witnessed her neighbour’s girlfriend get murdered, she makes it her mission to find out the truth.

Anna is taking a break from her art career to mourn the death of her daughter Elizabeth, who died when she was eight.

The aftermath of her death led to the breakdown of her marriage.

Elizabeth died whilst on a ‘take your child to work day’ with her father, who is a forensic psychiatrist.

Anna explained to her new neighbour Neil (Tom Riley) exactly what happened on that day.

She said: “Elizabeth was so excited to be going with her dad, a forensic psychiatrist for the FBI specialising in serial killers.

“Elizabeth went into a room with a serial killer who had murdered and eaten at least 30 people.

“Just before the assessment began, the warden needed to discuss an urgent matter.

“The warden shut the door, accidentally locking them out of the room.

“Our eight-year-old daughter was left alone with a man who the authorities nicknamed ‘Massacre Mike’.”

Anna was recalling the day to her therapist but became overwhelmed with emotion and was unable to continue.

It is insinuated that the serial killer killed and ate Elizabeth while her father was locked out of the room.

Anna developed a fear of rain as the last time she saw her daughter alive, it was raining.

She regularly visits her daughter’s grave and talks to her, and viewers have spotted something comical.

The script on Elizabeth’s gravestone changes, displaying a new satirical quote each time Anna visits.

In the season finale, Anna and her ex-husband Douglas (Michael Ealy) come face to face once more.

It is revealed that Douglas is Anna’s therapist and he has been trying to help her recover all this time.

They rekindle their relationship and following a time jump, the pair have another daughter together.

Fans are keen to know whether the series will be renewed for a second season.

The show was intended to be a miniseries but due to its popularity, season two may be given the green light in the future.

The Woman In The House Across The Street is on Netflix now. A second season is yet to be confirmed.
