Tipping Point viewers were left gobsmacked on Friday afternoon as contestant Alison revealed she is a mother to three children.

The lucky player made it through to the final round of the ITV quiz show and had a chance to win the £10,000 jackpot.

Before she took on the arcade machine, host Ben Shephard asked Alison if she had any idea on how she would spend her winnings if she went away from the studio with any money.

She told the presenter: "I'd like to pass my driving test. I failed my test twice when I was 18.

"I'd also like to take my children on a holiday abroad as I have never been able to do it and it would be nice to take them away.

An inquisitive Ben prodded further to find out how many children Alison had.

"I have three children. They are 16, 18 and 26," she replied.

Viewers at home rushed to their keyboards to point out that Alison didn't look old enough to be the mother of a 26-year-old child.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "She has a kid the same age as me?? She looks so young."

A second person posted: "She has a 26 year old?"

While a third viewer said: "Alison on Tipping Point doesn’t look old enough to have a 26 year old child! Must have been v young."

Stephen, Jayne, John and Alison all answered a series of questions to win turns on an arcade-style machine.

Dropping tokens down a choice of four chutes, they each hoped to knock piles of the counters off a moving shelve – the more they collected, the greater the prize fund.

Despite her best efforts in the final, Alison to get the jackpot counter over the tipping point.

However, she didn't leave the show empty-handled.

Alison went home with the £3,250 she had won throughout the show as well as a afternoon tea and a UK break.

Speaking to Ben before leaving the show, the contestant said: "I've had a brilliant day."

Ben, 45, told Alison: "Hopefully you can take the kids away somewhere warm with that money."

It was the second time the TV presenter had been on our screens as he appeared on Good Morning Britain with co-host Kate Garraway this morning.

Ben has been a firm fixture on ITV for over two decades.
