Vikings season six is the final series of Michael Hirst created drama and is expected to come to an end in 2021. Thankfully, a spin-off series has already been confirmed by Netflix called Vikings: Valhalla. Vikings fans are obsessed with the character Freydis (played by Alica Agneson), who starred in season five and has made some questionable appearances in season six.
Who is Freydis?
Freydís Eiríksdóttir is the sister of Leif Erikson and daughter of famous Viking, Erik the Red.
Her father is believed to be the first person to discover and settle in Greenland.
Accounts of Freydis’ life appear in the Saga of Erik the Red and the Greenland Saga.
The Saga of Eirik the Red Saga depicts Freydis as a pregnant warrior sword-wielding woman was able to fight off natives in Vinland.

On the other hand, the Greenland Saga tells a different story, portraying Freydis as a woman who only wanted money.
She is also described as disobeying her brother’s orders and returned to Vinland alone to plunder the land.
However, in both accounts, she is portrayed as a masculine and independent woman, who challenged the patriarchal norms of her society.
Freydis was married named Thorvard (Richard Ashton), however, in the series Vikings, Thorvard was portrayed as Viking warrior who raided Wessex.
Show creator Michael Hirst has based the character of Freydis loosely on the real Freydis Eiriksdottir.
In the series, she was portrayed as a former slave who was freed by Viking warrior, Ivar the Boneless (Alex Hogh Andersen).
Ivar and Freydis soon fell in love and got married. However, things took a tragic turn for Freydis and her baby.
After noticing Freydis’ son Balder was born with a deformity, Ivar left him outside to die and he was eaten alive by foxes.
Freydis then accused Ivar of murdering her son, which he denied.
She then sided with Ivar’s enemy, Bjorn Ironside (Alexander Ludwig) at the second siege of Kattegat, helping Bjorn overthrow her husband.
For her treason, Ivar strangled Freydis to death at the end of Vikings season five.

Will Freydis appear in the Vikings spin-off?
Yes, Freydis will appear in the Vikings spin off series, Vikings: Valhalla.
The spin off series will follow Vikings Leif Erikson, Freydis, Harald Harada and the Norman King William the Conqueror.
How exactly Freydis will appear remains unknown, considering she was killed by husband, Ivar the Boneless, in Vikings season five.
However, things have taken a huge twist in the final season of Vikings, with actress Alicia Agneson returning to the series as Princess Katia.
Ivar immediately recognised his former wife and tried to tell her her true identity, but Katia seemed none the wiser.

For now, ether Katya is actually Freydis remains unknown but regardless of her true identity, just exactly how show creator Michael Hirst plans to bring Freydis back from the dead in Valhalla remains unknown.
Things also become a little complicated as the spin-off series is also sent 100 years after season six of Vikings, long after Freydis in Vikings was alive, therefore it would seem impossible to see a living and breathing Freydis in the spin-off.
The cast of Vikings spin-off has also not yet been confirmed, but it is hugely possible that Alica Agneson could reprise her role.
Vikings season 6 airs Wednesdays on History US and Thursdays on Amazon Prime Video
