FORMER EastEnders star Himesh Patel has hit the big-time following his departure from Albert Square in 2016.
He's appeared in two big films but most recently has graced our small screens in The Luminaries, which continues TONIGHT (June 22) at 9pm on BBC One.
Who is Himesh Patel?
Patel was born on 13th October 1990 in Cambridgeshire to Indian parents.
From a young age he would always impersonate his favourite TV and film characters, hoping one day he would be able to make it to the small and big screen.
After performing in his first school play aged 11, his parents then signed him up for a local theatre group, the Key Youth Theatre in Peterborough.
He liked Indie, rock and Bollywood music growing up and played both the piano and the guitar.
When was Himesh Patel in EastEnders?
At the age of just 16, Patel got a call to audition for a role in one of Britain's most popular soaps, EastEnders.
His parents had to rush him to the audition after he took his last GCSE exam.
He first appeared as Tamwar in 2007 and continued playing the character in EastEnders: E20.
Playing the role of Tamwar Masood in an Asian family, Patel endured a very successful stint on the show, before saying farewell after nine years.
After leaving the world of soaps behind, the actor landed a role in the first episode of Channel 4 sitcom Damned.
Which movies has Himesh Patel been in?
Himesh made his debut into the world of film in 2019 in Yesterday, a romcom in which he plays a man who takes credit for all The Beatles' music as no one else can remember them.
In 2019 he also starred in The Aeronauts alongside big film industry names like Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones.
He will be making another film appearance in Tenet, a film set to be released later this year.
It's been written and directed by Christopher Nolan and has another star-studded cast.
Himesh may have started his journey as an actor on the world of soaps, but it looks as though he's building a name for himself in the film industry.
EastEnders fans were shocked to see him in last night's episode of The Luminaries.
