Who is James McAvoy?

Born April 21, 1979, James McAvoy is a Scottish actor from Glasgow.

The 39-year-old was raised by his grandparents because his mother suffered from poor health.

James graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama before starring in Band of Brothers, working alongside executive producers Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks.

James' breakthrough role came in 2004 as moral hero Steve McBride in the Bafta-winning series Shameless.

When was he married to Anne-Marie Duff?

James met English stage actress Anne-Marie Duff on the set of Channel 4's Shameless.

The pair were love interests on the show and departed the series together while they started a relationship off-camera as well.

The two married in a quiet ceremony in 2006 and have one child, Brendan, together, who was born in 2010. They divorced in late 2016.

When they're not working, the ex-couple both live with their son in London to avoid disruption to his life.

What else has he been in?

After leaving Shameless, James' worldwide appeal was raised by his role as Mr Tumnus in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

In 2006, he starred as Nicholas Garrigan in the Academy-Award winning film, The Last King of Scotland, where James was also nominated for a Bafta Award for Best Actor.

When will he take part in Soccer Aid?

James has been confirmed to take part in the upcoming Soccer Aid for Unicef event on Sunday, June 16.

There'll be two teams – the England squad and the World XI squad.

The Hollywood star will be playing for the World XI side, joining the likes of TOWIE's Mark Wright, singer Robbie Williams, McFly star Danny Jones and many more.

And though the annual footie match is usually held at Old Trafford in Manchester, officials have moved the location to Chelsea's Stamford Bridge in London.

More than 40,000 people are expected to attend, with tickets for the special occasion now being marked as sold out.

But not to worry because ITV1 will broadcast the match live on June 16 at 7.30 pm.

Who is James McAvoy's girlfriend Lisa Liberati?

The couple were first linked in 2016 when James was shooting Split in Lisa's native Philadelphia.

She's the PA of Split director M.Night Shyamalan and has worked on several of his films including Species, Devil and The Visit.

The pair became Instagram official at Halloween 2018 after partying alongside the cast and crew of Shyamalan's follow-up film, Glass.

A source said at the time: “James and Lisa are having a lot of fun together and behave like a pair of lovestruck teenagers when they are together.

“They both love partying and are regularly all over each other when they go out together.

"It’s no secret amongst their social group that they are together and everyone thinks they are a great fit.”
