You Don’t Know Me is making its BBC debut on November 5 and the four-part thriller is full of dramatic twists. The series follows a young man who is accused of murdering a boy, but he is adamant he is innocent. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about the main stars of the show.

Who is in You Don’t Know Me?

Hero – Sam Adewunmi

The series is told through Hero’s perspective as he takes his position in front of the jury in court.

While there is evidence stacked against him in the murder trial, he attempts to prove his innocence.

Hero is played by Sam Adewunmi, a 27-year-old actor known for his roles in Angela Black and The Watch.

The actor was named Most Promising Newcomer at the 2019 British Independent Film Awards.

Speaking about his time on set for his latest project, he said: “I think it was one of my teachers who said some of your best work is produced when you’re tired because you have nothing left in the tank other than what is there.

“Those days, as challenging as they were, were a lot of fun to still do. This is something that I love to do anyway, and we were lucky to be working during the pandemic.”

Kyra – Sophie Wilde

Kyra is the woman Hero fell in love with after they met on a bus two years previously.

She lands herself in trouble and mysteriously disappears, but Hero is convinced she is linked to the murder.

Kyra is played by Sophie Wilde, a relatively new actress who has only previously appeared in the series Eden.

She is currently filming a series titled Tom Jones, in which she plays Sophia Western.

Speaking about his co-star, Sam said: “Sophie, she was amazing. She has this lovely energy that just permeates every space that she goes into.”

Bless – Bukky Bakray

Bless seems to be connected to Kyra in the series, but not much is known about her character yet.

She is played by Bukky Bakray, a 19-year-old actress and writer who starred in the film Rocks.

She recently became the youngest BAFTA Rising Star Award recipient at the 74th British Academy Film Awards.

Jamil – Roger Jean Nsengiyumva

Jamil is a gang member who has various run-ins with Hero in the series.

He is played by Roger Jean Nsengiyumva, a 27-year-old actor who has previously starred in the 2018 Tomb Raider film.

He has also taken on roles in Armchair Detectives and Informer, both on BBC One.

Prosecution Barrister – Badria Timimi

Hero is up against a relentless prosecution barrister who has plenty of evidence to prove his guilt.

She is played by Badria Timimi, perhaps best known for her roles as Dr Bahil in Our Girl and Sara Mahmoud in Unforgotten.

Badria also played Dr Sandra Vole in EastEnders back in 2016.

Her other credits include Doctors, Holby City and Silent Witness.

Sam – Nicholas Khan

Sam looks to be Hero’s defence lawyer as photos show the pair pictured together, both wearing suits.

He is played by Nicholas Khan, who has previously starred in Transformers: The Last Knight, Holby City and Family Affairs.

Viewers may also recognise him as DC Crayman in EastEnders, from back in 2003.

Other characters in the series include Face (Michael Balogun) and Abebi (Yetunde Oduwole).

The trailer for the series shows Hero recalling his story to the jury, and he is seen meeting Kyra for the first time.

He is left shaken after her disappearance and it leads him down a dangerous path as he attempts to find her.

Viewers will be left wondering whether he did murder a young boy, or whether he was telling the truth all along.

You Don’t Know Me airs on BBC One on Sunday, November 5 at 9pm.
